Yes and No :: October 11, 2020

Yes and No :: October 11, 2020

Sunday, October 11
Matt 5:37 – Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.
Here are some examples of when I have spoken ‘yes’ and it was more of a ‘maybe’:
Yes, I will be home at 6 pm.
Yes, we can go hiking on Saturday.
Here are some times when I said ‘yes’ without fully understanding what ‘yes’ involved:
Yes, I want to be your friend.
Yes, God, I will go where you want me to go and do what you want me to do
Here are a few ‘yes’ moments that I’m so thankful I’ve spoken and have the privilege of working out:
Yes, I want to follow, Jesus!
Yes, I want to marry you!
And, here are some of those who might say my ‘yes’ seems to come with a caveat (other than my friends, my family and my God):
Everyone
Here is the one whose ‘yes’ doesn’t smell of maybe…
Here is the one who fully realizes what a ‘yes’ entails…
Here is the one whom we will forever be grateful for his ‘yes’…
Here is one whose ‘yes’ is always ‘yes’ — no caveat needed…
Here is the one who fulfills every one of God’s ‘yeses’…
Jesus

2 Corinthians 1:12 – For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. This is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.
Jesus speaks with authority on ‘yes’ and ‘no.’
