Titanic Sunday

I labeled last week as FROG Sunday! With all the chaos happening around us we need to be frogs and Fully Rely On God.

In that same spirit, I’m calling this week “Titanic Sunday”. Are we, the greatest nation in the world, sinking? Where did that iceberg come from? I never saw it coming.

On April 14, 1912 the unsinkable HMS Titanic sank in the north Atlantic Ocean after just glancing off an iceberg. Many lives were lost and it is remembered as one of the great tragedies in world history.

What has that got to do with us 108 years later out in the middle of Kansas? I will speak about three different characters that were revealed on the ocean that night that can reveal and teach us about how we can react to the Coronavirus pandemic that’s causing chaos in the world today.

One character on the sea that might show up in us or the people around us- Arrogance. An over-confident attitude that leads you to believe that you’re untouchable and unsinkable can actually lead to your sinking. Remember, God hates pride!

Another character revealed on that fateful night so long ago- Fear. There are good reasons to have a “healthy” fear of danger, but to be over-cautious can cause us to become frozen, like deer in the headlights, and useless for doing God’s work. Remember, God did not give you a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love and self-discipline.
Lastly, the hero of the Titanic story can be an inspiration to us today. There was another ship out there that was Ready. They were aware, open, and prepared to step into danger to help those in desperate need. And they prayed, seeking God’s guidance, protection and strength to do His will.
Remember, Go into all the world, serve the needy and reach the lost.
