Are you connected? Did you have time with family and friends over Thanksgiving and Christmas? Sometimes we’re overwhelmed with too much connection, and sometimes we find that all our connections are long-distance. And for some, sadly, all meaningful connections have disappeared.
As we head into this new year, we are going to embark on another Immerse Bible study series. This one is entitled “Kingdoms” and will take us through the books of Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1st & 2nd Samuel, and 1st & 2nd Kings. It sounds daunting, but the Immerse program breaks it down to just 30or 40 pages to read every week…for 8 weeks. We can do it!
AND, we are encouraged to do it together. Most of our Home Groups will be immersing into it for the eight-week program. We encourage you, if you’re not yet plugged into a group, to seriously and prayerfully consider taking a mid-winter plunge. There are existing groups that have room for you and we’re just asking you to make an 8-week commitment. Try it out.
My sermon this week will address the basic issue that we are designed and called by God to experience our Christian walk with others…connected to the Body of Christ, the church, other Christians. We aren’t meant to do it alone. There is good, godly purpose to get connected to a small group of fellow believers. Sometimes they will be shaping you, and sometimes you will be shaping them.
