We believe the local church is the hope of the world. The reason we say this is because the local church is the vehicle by which God works out His redemptive plan for the world in Jesus Christ. Therefore we call the local church the hope of the world because it is the visible manifestation of God’s glory in Christ.
Jesus gave His disciples two mandates that would eventually shape the mission and ethos of the Christian church:
The Great Commandment: Love the Lord your God with all your heart…soul…and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.
Matthew 22:36-40
The Great Commission: Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
Matthew 28:19-20
Believing this to be our mandate as well, we envision Clay Center Covenant Church becoming a congregation of local missionaries who gather to worship the Triune God and then scatter to spread the fame and glory of this God through authentic Christian living and service.
The vision that guides us simple:
Know God, Connect People and Share Christ
Three core values that provide the foundation for all we do:
Knowing God More Intimately – Knowing & loving God in Christ consists of a life of vibrant corporate & individual prayer; obedient study & application of the Bible to everyday life; Spirit-driven worship of Him in all we say and do.
Connecting People More Deeply – Connecting people in significant relationships through the local church consists of authentic fellowship, small group discipleship & a caring community
Sharing Christ More Passionately – Sharing Christ consists of identifying & using our spiritual gifts to transform our world through acts of service, mission & evangelism.
