Resurrection is Coming!

Blog Post for Sunday, April 9, 2017

We had the privilege of starting 2017 with a special day of worship and being challenged together to recommit ourselves to living for Christ. Since then, we have been in a series called “Born To Follow,” in which we are preparing ourselves to celebrate well the reality of the resurrection and Christ’s presence amongst us by focusing on His life and teachings.
Well friends, I am pleased to announce that the time of celebration is finally here! This Sunday is Palm Sunday and the beginning of a three-part series called “The Touch of Jesus,” in which we will look at Easter from the vantage point of both Jews who believed Jesus to be the Messiah, as well as Barabbas – the revolutionary leader whom the people chose to set free instead of Jesus.
Here is the schedule for the week:
  • Part One: Palm Sunday Celebration – 9:00am & 11:15am
    • We will commemorate when Jesus enters into Jerusalem, and introduce Barabbas and political circumstances surrounding the final week of Jesus life.
  • Part Two: Maundy Thursday – 7:00pm
    • We will be portraying the reality that Jesus is the Way and the Truth and the Life. Nursery for birth-age 3 is available.
*There will be a Good Friday Service put on by the Ministerial Alliance on Friday evening at 6pm. We will begin at the steps of the Presbyterian Church and dramatically reenact Jesus trial. We will then walk together in procession across to the United Methodist Church for a special time of song and reflection.
  • Part Three: Easter Celebration!
    • Sunrise Service at 7:00am :: We will start our celebration early at the east end of the parking lot with hymns and a testimony by Jael Boeschling. Bring lawn chairs if you would like to sit! We will have donuts, coffee and juice in the Multi-purpose Room afterwards.
    • Easter Celebration at 9:00am & 11:15am :: Easter Sunday will be a time of celebrating that Jesus is alive with music and a special message.
    • Easter Brunch from 10:15-11am :: Come join us anytime between 10:15-11:00am for an Easter brunch!
    • Easter Egg Hunt for kids who are walking through 5th grade at 10:45am :: Join us on the far east lawn for an Easter egg hunt!
It will be a festive, joyful celebration of the fact that our Savior truly does live!
